A digital autopilot as a retrofit for older aircraft. The GFC600
can offer its potential especially in interaction with the combination of PFD G600txi
and the MFDs
GTN750xi
or
GTN650xi.
Both lateral and vertical navigation on route and at approach is supported. Just 3D.
Various safety functions are built in:
1. Speed monitoring for upper and lower limit values.
2. Roll angle monitoring.
3. The aircraft is stabilized from any attitude using the "LVL" button.
Conventional approaches (ILS) as well as modern RNP approaches using GPS can be flown automatically down to the minimum.
A touchscreen display to show the primary flight information: attitude, position, speed and altitude.
Using virtual reality, the pilot gets a realistic virtual image. Mountains, obstacles and other aircraft are displayed in 3D.
Various entries such as the intended course and the desired altitude are automatically forwarded to the autopilot.
One third of the display can also be used as an MFD, for example to show approach charts or a moving map.
The GTN750xi
serves both radio communication and radio navigation. The frequencies can be entered, the volume can be changed.
With a high-precision GPS receiver (SBAS), it forms the basis for modern navigation, both laterally and vertically.
Different parameters such as basic speed, course, distance, time to destination, and much more are displayed.
Departure, route and approach maps (also Jeppesen) can be displayed. These can tw. also overlay the map.
Important information about airports is stored in databases.
The touch screen enables intuitive operation with your fingers.
The GTN750xi
takes that in an SD card slot Flightstream 510
which communicates with the SW Garmin Pilot. Database updates are carried out via this interface GTN750xi
played and forwarded from there to the other devices. Changes to the route are also exchanged via the same interface.
The GTN650xi is a GTN750xi with a smaller screen. Therefore it is not possible to display maps. Most other functions of the GTN750xi are available
The screen is mostly used to display terrain and obstacles. The radio system is useful for simultaneous monitoring of e.g. the controller and ATIS via the stereo function of the GMA350c.
Since no second radio is required in the USA, double frequency audibility can be achieved today with only one GTNx50 (monitor function). However, a second radio is more practical.
In addition to the standard functions of an audio system, the following functions are real highlights:
1. The sound that the pilot hears in the headphones is recorded with a Bluetooth connection to a compatible video camera. The sound is clear and understandable without outside noise.
2. The last announcement of the controller can be repeated using the "PLAY" button.
3. Two frequencies can be heard at the same time, for example to handle the radio traffic for information, but to already hear the frequency of the destination airport in the right ear.
The Lynx NGT-9000
is a combination system that includes the following functions:
1. Transponder Mode S
2. ADS-B In & Out, including GPS
3. TAS
other functions cannot be used in Europe.
Using ADS-B In and TAS, planes in the vicinity can be detectedand displayed on the screens. Evasive maneuvers can be planned in good time.
The EDM 960 records engine data:
* Rotational speed
* Suction pressure
* Oil pressure
* Oil temperature
* Supply voltage
* Electricity of the alternator
* Fuel consumption
In addition, the following data is displayed on the screen for each cylinder:
* Cylinder head temperature
* Exhaust gas temperature
* Turbocharger inlet temperature
With this data, the two motors are no longer just a black box, but are available with all parameters.
The pilot can use this data to optimally adjust the fuel / air mixture.
This data is also recorded so that it can be exported and analyzed for maintenance purposes.
In February 2021, the Bendix / King ART-2000
weather radar was exchanged for a Garmin GWX75. The radar image can now also be displayed on the GTN750xi
and the G600txi.
The existing Avidyne EX500
is now dedicated to the weather display.
As a surprising feature, the weather radar can now be operated in independent modes on the GTN750xi
and the EX500. This allows the GTN750xi
to display a horizontal scan and the EX500
a vertical scan. The GWX75
automatically switches between the two modes after each scan.
The tilt angle of the radar antenna can be adjusted. In addition to a lateral display, it is also possible to switch to a vertical profile.
If no weather radar is required, maps, course routes and your own portion can be displayed on the EX500.
However, this information is primarily displayed on the GTN750xi.
Most aircraft are equipped with a transponder or an ADS-B Out system. These airplanes are about that Lynx NGT-9000 detected and displayed on a screen. The situation is different for gliders and hang gliders. For energy or cost reasons, they often have a FLARMSystem installed.
With the help of AirAvionics AirTraffic, flying objects can be detected that are equipped with a Flarm system.
The AirTraffic
has its own control and display unit. In addition, it sends the data over a bus system for display on the GTN750xi.
The MidContinent MD302is an emergency instrument. In the event of a failure of the PFD (G600txi) the pilot can continue to fly the aircraft in the clouds. For this it has a battery which is sufficient for 30 minutes of operation.
Although especially with modern digital systems failures of the instruments are extremely rare, the legislator demands an emergency system, with the help of which the aircraft can be flown in clouds (IMC).
